Abbie Deleers, lvt, founder and president

Abbie Deleers, lvt, founder and president

Abbie has had a passion for international travel and volunteering for many years, including spay/neuter campaigns, wildlife care, shelter medicine and field surgery. VTWB was born out of a desire to help other animal nurses experience the benefits of travel and service.

Abbie loves photography, writing, outdoor activities, and swimming with sharks. She has a special place in her heart for northern breed dogs who shed all over her house.

Thad Hitchcock, mstc, co-founder and treasurer

Thad Hitchcock, mstc, co-founder and treasurer

Thad shares Abbie's love of travel and volunteering, utilizing his skills in animal transport and restraint, cage building, heavy lifting, and client outreach. He is also invaluable as VTWB tech support.

When not volunteering, Thad enjoys games, the outdoors, and solving complex design challenges as an information architect.

Special interests include hiking, cheese, and snuggling with the VTWB staff cats.

Leslie Montgomery, lvt

Leslie Montgomery, lvt

Leslie is highly skilled in general and surgical medicine. She is a repeat volunteer with the Isla Holbox Spay/Neuter Project and has extensive experience with fast-paced, high-volume surgery in a MASH setting. She has also volunteered in outreach and fundraising for the Doney Memorial Pet Clinic, serving low-income communities in Seattle. 

Leslie is an avid runner, and has a special fondness for beagles.

Lexie has extensive experience in emergency/triage, critical care, and surgical nursing. She is passionate about providing compassionate support for clients and their pets. She has a special interest in anesthesia (has designed her own protocols) and spay/neuter.

Lexie loves vintage clothes, Volkswagen Bugs, a good cup of coffee and all types of dogs (especially small black ones).

gwen francisco, lvt, cvpp

gwen francisco, lvt, cvpp

After a successful career in journalism, Gwen turned her talents to veterinary medicine. She has worked in small animal general practice and holds a certification in veterinary pain management.

Gwen loves gardening, working out, and creating delicious pastries. She is a passionate advocate for animals and promoting cutting-edge pain management techniques, both in practice and as a veterinary college instructor.

Adriana Koessler, LVT

Adriana Koessler, LVT

Adriana is skilled in general small animal medicine. She is a longtime repeat volunteer with a spay/neuter project in Mexico where she manages the recovery of dogs and cats after surgery. She has also volunteered with PAWS and the Humane Society.

Adriana enjoys outdoor activities and playing with her rescue dogs. She is passionate about animal welfare and rescue.  

Jeanine Tweed, dvm

Jeanine Tweed, dvm

Dr T is a veterinary consultant for VTWB. She received her DVM degree from Cornell University in 2000. She has a special interest in Chinese medicine and is certified in veterinary acupuncture. 

In her spare time, Dr T enjoys gardening, photography, and creating music with her vintage 1980's DX7 synthesizer.
