My first trip with Vet Techs Without Borders to a spay and neuter clinic in Mexico. A total of 466 dogs and cats in 4 days!

It was amazing to be part of a team of hardworking and dedicated people. Can't wait until next year!

The clinic I worked for provided low or no cost to locals and held high-volume spay/neuter services at the shelter and in other communities throughout Costa Rica. Not only was I able to help many animals, but I was also immersed in a different culture and learned SO much more about veterinary medicine and how it's practiced in other countries.

My experience in Houston is something I will never forget, Being able to travel to a crisis area to help is the heart of why I became a technician. I saw the sick and scared become open and engaging as well as the lost be reunited and the homeless find family. I would do it all over in the blink of an eye.

In Guatemala, we got to participate in our first baby sea turtle release. It was an amazing and heartwarming thing to watch. It was an amazing experience to learn about another country while fulfilling our dream of traveling and helping many species of animals.

I had never treated primates before and being at an emergency clinic, I also came in contact with other Central American animals. It was fantastic to see the doctor give all animals a chance of survival, and he taught me how he used limited resources with the goal of rehabilitating and releasing animals. I was never short of being surrounded by amazing wildlife and beautiful scenery. It was a great experience which I will remember forever, and I highly recommend it.
